Rose Neighborhood Sketches (A.S. Roe, 1893) - p. 213 -- Near Steitler home on what is now (2000) Wayne Center Rd. - John Drown who came in 1813 from Parsonfield in the District of Maine. Wife was Sally Ayers. Located his home somewhere on old ridge preemption road, and had a large family. His brother Solomon came in 1812, lived just south of him.... p. 213 -- Solomon was twice married. First wife unknown, but had John, Wm., Warren, Charles, Betsey and Solomon by her. " His second wife was Fanny Dennis of the Wayne Centre family, and by her he had eight children. He finally went to Pennsylvania and there ended his days. Several of his children becamae Mormons, and went off at the time of the excitement and were lost sight of." The first John Drown later lived at the foot of Dodds Hill in Griswold district, where his wife died. " He, too, went to Pennsylvania and died there."
