Family settled at W. Castleton, where father was partner in sawmill
with John Quinton. Then to Fair Haven --> Benson --> Fair Haven
again -->Terry, Wyoming Co, NY. Worked as blacksmith with John
Quinton. Said to have been in military company from Fair Haven and
vicinity at time of Battle of Plattsburgh; unit did not engage. One
of listers, and constable and collector in March 1816, cont. in
latter office several years. Bought of Thos. Christie one-half of
scythe factory in 1817 on grounds of union slate works. (Adams, 1870)
